ROOTS WITH WINGS
SIZE - 12 X 6 FT
MEDIUM - WOOD, STEEL, PAINT
Inspired by the client’s motto that is also the title, this piece resembles her 2 wings that are her 2 children. The older child is represented by the larger wing and the younger with the smaller wing. Their family business is into making pigments. After their older child joined the business he introduced 3 new pigments in the colors of red, orange and yellow, which is directly taken upon as the color scheme for the piece. The gaps in the structure allow the piece to flutter slightly when wind blows around it as well.
CHECKMATE?
SIZE - 9 X 3 FT
MEDIUM - STEEL, WOOD, PAINT
Here’s a sculpture that consists of the most basic shape : a square along with a monochromatic colour palette. However. Angling a square on a 45 degree, take it a different form. It not only offers a play in perspective but challenges physics trying to balance each other on row of 3. There is also a variation of depth on all edges. The two very powerful colours also alternating throughout the piece offers a wide range to investigate.
UNTITLED I
SIZE - 13 X 3.75 FT
MEDIUM - WOOD, PAINT
This is piece is purely an investigation of colour, depth and perspective. The change in the viewers angle determines which colour is more visible to their eye. The depth factor plays in when you see the piece from a side angel. The other most lines are the thickest and as the viewer moves their eyes inward the thickness of each line keeps getting lowered. The extensions of the lines on the floor are to signify that lines can also be malleable without losing their rigidity.
NOT-YOUR-AVERAGE-SILVER-LINING
SIZE - 12 X 9 - 9 X 3
MEDIUM - WOOD, PAINT
This installation plays on very many elements.
The viewers attention is first captured by the mustard yellow. What is cool to notice here is how the thinner line commands the most attention. The size of the piece is what drags the viewers eyes next, only to make them investigate the placement of the piece. Now, this, according to the artist is the most intriguing element and concept of the entire piece. A conventional art piece is placed on centre stage. Not this piece! This particular piece shows how you can create asymmetry in a room AND how a rigid material like wood, can wrap itself around a wall.nMore play in found when the offset of the depth is taken under investigation.
Not-Your-Average-Silver-Lining allows the viewer to take on so many perspectives that one cannot get enough.
LET THE LIGHT DEFINE ME
SIZE: 12X24 - 15X9 - 10X9 - 10X15 inches
MEDIUM - WOOD, PAINT
A wall installation in the form of hollow rectangular pyramid that has a colour scheme based on the three most prominent colours that make up the space. The Length of piece is based off of the length of the wall its installed on. The hollow composition of each rectangular pyramid allows light to create shadows around it. Many pyramids, may shadows. And as the day light angle shifts from the opposing side window so does the installations shadow there in the piece itself.
